FLOSSIE SKELLENGER

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday at Zion Lutheran Church, Clear Lake, for Mrs. Flossie M. Skellenger, 77, of 212 7th Ave. N., Clear Lake, who died Thursday (May 2, 1985) at a Mason City hospital.

Mrs. Skellenger worked as a church secretary at the United Methodist Church, Mason City, for 14 years and later worked at X-Size Ladies Fashions, Clear Lake.

Born Oct. 26, 1907 in Mora, Minn., she was the daughter of Orren and Dorcas (Pester) Porter. She attended Clear Lake schools and graduated from Clear Lake High School in 1925. She also was a graduate of Hamilton Business College, Mason City. In August 1929 she married Howard L. Skellenger in Clear Lake.

Mrs. Skellenger was a volunteer at handicap Village, Clear Lake, an active member and volunteer at Zion Lutheran Church, Clear Lake, and a member of Tina Rebekah Lodge here.

The Rev. Keith Tomlinson officiated at the service and burial was in the Clear Lake Cemetery.

Survivors include five sons, Jack, Fountain Valley, Calif.; Charles, Bakersfield, Calif.; William, Angels Camp, Calif.; James, Hemet, Calif.; and Thomas, Mason City; 15 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. George (Lucille) Franklin, Nora Springs; Mrs. Mary Bruns and Mrs. Charles (Catherine) Davis, both of Clear Lake, and Mrs. Robert (Esther) Evans, Hemet, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Dennis Currier, Bill Bruns, John Shannon, Wayne Vath, Andy Anderson, and Raymond Carpenter.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and husband, Howard in 1977.
