MAUDE B. BARLOW

CLEAR LAKE – Funeral services for Maude B. Barlow, 90, of Lakeland Apartments, Clear Lake, will be at 10:30 a.m. today at the United Methodist Church. The Rev. James Louk will officiate, with burial in the Clear Lake Cemetery.

Miss Barlow died Wednesday (May 1, 1991) at Oakwood Care Center.

She was born Aug. 29, 1900, in Mount Vernon Township, rural Clear Lake, the daughter of Thomas and Lottie (VanHorn) Barlow. She attended Mount Vernon Township School and has lived in the Clear Lake and Mason City area most of her life.

She worked at Lyons Furriers in Mason City doing alterations. She also worked at Kinney Draperies in Mason City, Oluf T. Hansen Department Store in Clear Lake, Neal’s Cleaners and later Lustre Cleaners in Clear Lake as a seamstress. She loved to do crocheting.

She was a member of United Methodist Church and United Methodist Womens Club of Clear Lake.

Survivors include two sisters, Alta Sturgeon of Klemme, and Edna Barlow of Clear Lake; one brother, Melvin and his wife, Ruby Barlow, of Clear Lake; three nieces, Dorothy Gretillat of Klemme, Carolyn Nyhus of Cedar Falls and Julie Schelhammer, Lenexa, Kan.; and several grand nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. Fourth, was in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be given to Clear Lake United Methodist Church.
