HARRY J. ELIASEN
Harry J. Eliasen, 76, of 1008 Second Ave. N., died Friday, July 19, 1991, at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, Mason City.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10 a.m. Monday July 22, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Clear Lake, with the Rev. Ed Shields officiating. Burial was in the Clear Lake Cemetery where full military honors were conducted by members of the Clear Lake V.F.W. Post. Ward Van Slyke Colonial Chapel was in charge of services.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Harry J. Eliasen Memorial Fund.
He was born Sept. 14, 1914, at Evanston, Ill., a son of John and Eleanor (Hermansen) Eliasen. He married Mary Radio on Oct. 21, 1939, at Mason City.
He moved from Evanston, Ill., to Clear Lake during 1918. He learned the trade of masonry from his father and worked for him until he entered the service. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He started constructing homes in 1946, building them for resale. He later worked for Percy Construction for 10 years, the he worked for Stoynoff Construction until retiring in 1979.
He enjoyed restoring gas engines, gardening and attending gas engine shows.
He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Danish Brotherhood, Bricklayers Union and the Clear Lake V.F.W.
Survivors include his wife, Mary, of Clear Lake; two sons, Richard Eliasen and his wife, Jimmie, Sugar Land, Texas, and Roger Eliasen and his wife, Dolores, Clear Lake; two sisters, Mrs. Keith (Marion) Holt, Clear Lake, and Mrs. James (Leona) King, Tulsa, Okla.; and six grandchildren, Dana Ballestros, Devin Hartley, Erik Eliasen, Todd Eliasen, Stephanie Eliasen and Stacie Eliasen.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one uncle, Chris Eliasen.
Honorary pallbearers were Bob Chizek, Willi Beckman, Bill Stoynoff, Tom Nelson, Floyd Nielsen, Reinhardt Andersen and Chris Casperson.
Active pallbearers were Tom Radio, Stan Radio, Dennis Radio, John Holt, Tom Truex and Mike Anderson.
Organist Marie Faber accompanied soloist Mary Stattelman and special vocalist Jimmie Eliasen.
