MARY ASHLAND SERVICES HELD
RITES CONDUCTED AT METHODIST CHURCHCLEAR LAKE – Funeral services for Miss Mary Ashland, 65, who died Wednesday afternoon following a short illness, were held at the Methodist Church Saturday afternoon with the Rev. Warner M. Hubbard, pastor conducting the services. Wilcox funeral chapel had charge. Burial was in the Clear Lake Cemetery.
Mrs. Leland Jacobsen sang “Beautiful Isle of Somewhere” and “Abide With Me,” accompanied by Mrs. Harry Mason. Mmes. G. E. Curphy, James Miller and Paul Miller had charge of flowers.
Pallbearers were nephews: Maurice Ashland, Lincoln, Neb.; Roger Ashland, Washington, D.C.; Dannie Ashland, Columbus Junction; Dean Ashland, Harold Ashland and Reeve Eldridge, Clear Lake.
Relatives and friends from away who attended the services were Mr. and Mrs. Irving Ashland, Rock Falls; Mr. and Mrs. Oluf Elefsrud, Fredericksburg; Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Petersen, Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Overgaard, Ventura: Russell Schwartz, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Kotz, Mr. and Mrs. Chet Buffington, Mr. and Mrs. John Frohm, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Nettleton, Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Emmert, all of Mason City, and Mr. and Mrs. Dick Buffington, Columbus Junction.
Mr. and Mrs. Paul Ashland, S. Dak., arrived Sunday morning as they were delayed at Plankton, S. Dak., on account of the deep snow, and R. C .T. Frank Ashland arrived Sunday morning from Fort Devens, Mass.
Memorial gifts were given to the new Methodist church, missions and to the Good Samaritan home in Mason City, in her honor.
