IRVING ASHLAND

Funeral services for Irving Ashland will be held Thursday April 15, 1976 at the United Methodist Church at 2 p.m. with the Rev James Delahooke officiating. Ward-Van Slyke Funeral Home will be in charge.

Mrs. Harry Mason will be organist. Pallbearers chosen are Warren Peitzke, Orval Isebrand, E.E. Smith, Carroll Peterson, Virgil Pitkin, William Madson, Albert Huber, Arlo Erickson and Fred Matson.

Mr. Ashland died April 11, 1976 at his home at 311 1st Ave. N., following an illness of several years.

Irving Henry Ashland was born Oct. 9, 1893 on a farm south of Clear Lake, the son of Helga (Narveson) and Ole Ashland.

He attended Clear Lake schools, graduating from Clear Lake High School and the Capital City Commercial College in Des Moines, Iowa.

He and Pearl Burke were married Dec. 21, 1935 in Albert Lea, Minn.

He farmed in the Clear Lake and Rock Falls area until retirement in 1959, then moved to town.

Besides his wife, Pearl, he is survived by a daughter, Linda, of New York City and six sons, Paul, Harold and Frank of Rapid City, S.D.; Roger, Chevy Chase, Md.; Maurice, Scottsdale, Ariz.; Dan, Wapello, Ia. He is also survived by a brother, L.E. Ashland, Clear Lake. There are 17 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Dean, two sisters and two brothers.
