MRS. B.A.DAVIS DIES OF ILLNESS
FUNERAL TO BE HELD TUESDAY, 3 O’CLOCK, METHODIST CHURCHCLEAR LAKE – Funeral services for Mrs. Ben A. Davis, 63, who died at a Mason City hospital Sunday evening after an illness of two weeks, will be held at the Methodist Church Tuesday afternoon at 3 o’clock. The Rev. Thomas B. Collins, pastor, will be in charge and the Rev. W.A. Henke, Marion, will speak.
Burial will be in Clear Lake Cemetery. Ward’s Funeral Home is in charge.
Ida Alice Watson was born Oct. 23, 1876. She was graduated from Cornell college and in 1902 was married to the Rev. Mr. Davis at Mt. Vernon. The family lived successively at Chelsea, Lost Nation, Elwood, Marble Rock, Lime Springs, New Hartford, Hansell, Chapin and Parkersburg until Mr. Davis accepted the position of superintendent of Methodist Camp seven years ago and moved to the cottage where they have since resided.
Mrs. Davis was a member of the Methodist Church and of Park chapter No. 35, O.E.S. Through the work of her husband whom she assisted greatly, Mrs. Davis had contacts with many persons, not only of the Methodist denomination, but of all who used the camp for gatherings.
She was active in church work and kept in close touch with the life of the camp until stricken with a heart attack two weeks ago.
Besides her husband, Mrs. Davis is survived by two sons, Watson Davis, Chicago, and Willis Davis, Des Moines; one grandson, Howard Davis, 10, of Chicago, and a brother J.R. Watson, Cedar Rapids. Both sons and their wives and the grandson are here for the funeral.
Transcriber’s Note – Ida Alice Davis was born Oct. 23, 1876, died July 1940 and was buried in the Clear Lake Cemetery, Section E Row 10. Headstone says she was born 1877.
