E. BABCOCK, 93, DIED IN ST. PAUL
GRAVESIDE SERVICE AT LAKE SUNDAY P.M.

CLEAR LAKE – A graveside service for Ernest Babcock, 93, who died at St. Paul Wednesday, will be held in Clear lake Cemetery Sunday afternoon, it was announced Thursday. Ward’s funeral home is making the arrangements.

Mr. Babcock is survived by 2 daughters, Mmes. Earl Kugler and Angenette Forst, St. Paul; a son, Harry A. Babcock, 2 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Babcock died last Feb. 16 and her body was brought to Clear Lake for burial. At that time Mr. Babcock was too frail to be present. Mrs. Babcock was Jennie Green, a sister of Mrs. Eugene Whitney, and they were daughters of Alonzo Green, early day resident of Clear Lake.

Mr. Babcock was assistant editor of the Clear Lake Observer, now the Clear Lake Mirror, when he married Miss Green Dec. 25, 1877.

COMMITTAL SERVICES HELD FOR E. BABCOCK

CLEAR LAKE – Committal services for Ernest D. Babcock, 93 who died in St. Paul Wednesday night of the frailities of age, were held in Clear Lake Cemetery Sunday afternoon with the Rev. Warner M. Hubbard, pastor of the Methodist Church, conducting the rites. Ward’s funeral home made the arrangements.

Pallbearers were C.A. Knutson, E.W. Winnie, P.W. Fistler, R.B. Kennedy, Kenneth Becker and Arthur Burckhardt.

Mr. Babcock was born in Connecticut and came to Clear Lake from Cedar Rapids, to be associated in business with George E. Frost, father of Mrs. C.R. Woodford and editor of the Clear Lake Observer, now the Mirror. Dec 25, 1877, he was married to Miss Jennie A. Green, daughter of A.H. (Lon) Green, who preceded him in death 3 months to a day. The couple moved to St. Paul in 1879.

Mr. Babcock was associated with the Morning Globe and Pioneer Press as a compositor and assistant foremen before entering business for himself.

He is survived by a son, H.A. Babcock; and two daughters, Mmes. Leonard E. Forst and Genevieve B. Kugler, St. Paul, and 2 grandchildren, Mrs. Theodore N. Mischel, New York City, and Jerome M. Babcock, San Francisco, Cal.

Attending the services from out of town were Mmes. Kugler and Frost and Mrs. Osgood G. Whittemore and daughter, George Ann, Fort Dodge.
