Obituary - Alice (Medlin) Nelson
February 28, 1916 ~ 1997

Alice M. Nelson was born Feb. 28, 1916, in Bloomington, Ill.,daughter of Alvin J. and Francis (Scott) Medlin. She married Willie T. Nelson on June 26, 1931, at her parents' home south of Ventura.

Alice grew up in Forest City and attended schools in the Forest City area.

She and her husband farmed in the Thornton and Ventura area for 38 years until retiring in 1970 when they moved into Ventura.

She loved spending time with her family and grandchildren.

She enjoyed gardening and raising flowers, fishing and reading.

She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and was a past member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Thornton.

Survivors include one son, Jack Nelson and his wife, Berna, of Alden, Minn.; three daughters, Phyllis Brozik and her husband, Ronald, Garner; Sharon Larson and her husband, Craig, Klemme, and Lynn Hagen and her husband, Lon, Forest City; one daughter-in-law, Charlotte Nelson, Sunrise Beach, Mo.; 17 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one sister, Doris Johnson and her husband, Donald K., Northwood; one brother-in-law, John Onken, Charles City; one sister-in-law, Viola Christianson, Clear Lake; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Willie, on Feb. 25, 1989; one son, Darold Nelson in September of 1984; three sisters, Marie Medlin, Florine Leach and Vera Onken; and one brother, Alvin Medlin Jr.
