Mason City, Cerro Gordo County, IowaObituary - Julia Fredericka (Derrer) Hansen
March 13, 1873 ~ April 09, 1953Funeral services for Mrs. Julia Hansen, age 80, who died at Mercy Hospital Thursday, April 9th from a heart ailment were held Sunday April 12th.
Services were conducted at 1:45 at the Hansen home and 2 o'clock at the American Lutheran church with Rev. J.C. Langholz officiating.
Mrs. Ross Hansen sang "God's Tomorrow" and "Abide With Me", and Wallace Brandt sang "The Lord's Prayer" accompanied on the piano by Lorene Nicolet.
Pallbearers were: Merlin Floy, Vernon Floy, Ross Hansen, Clarie Hansen, Thayne Obrecht and Robert Floy.
Mrs. Hans Bertelsen, Mrs. Armand Nicolet and Mrs. Leland Long had charge of the flowers.
Wartnaby Funeral home was in charge.
Julia Frederick (Derrer) Hansen was born March 13th, 1873 at Apple River, Illinois. She was united in marriage October 6, 1891, to August Hansen at Rockwell, Iowa. She lived in Apple River, Illinois 4 years, Rockwell 15 years, and Thornton 61years.
She was confirmed in 1903 and has been a member of the St. Paul's American Lutheran church for 50 years, having served as President of the Ladies Aid at one time.
She is survived by 4 daughters, Etta Floy, Mildred Floy, Effie Obrecht, of Thornton, and Matilda Brandt of Champagne, Illinois; 2 sons, Charles Hansen of Rockwell and Edwin Hansen of Cheyenne, Wyoming; and also one sister Mrs. Tillie Benson.
She was preceded in death by her husband on August 17, 1942; one son, Harry; her sister, Mrs. Emma Wagner; a brother, Herman Derrer; and 8 half-brothers and sisters.
Mrs. Hansen always had a kind word for everyone and will truly be missed by all.
