Funeral services for Hans Hansen were conducted at the United Lutheran Church Friday afternoon, with Rev. Wesley Anderson of Coulter in charge.
Hans. J. Hansen, son of Mrs. Anna Hansen of Thornton, passed away at Mercy Hospital Tuesday evening, January 11th at 6:15 o'clock, at the age of 59 years, nine months and 11 days.
He was born in Egerup, Denmark on April 1, 1889. He was baptized in the Lutheran faith in Denmark. He came to this country with his parents in the spring of 1901. He was confirmed in the United Lutheran church in Thornton and has been a faithful member ever since.
He was united in marriage with Maude Ytzen on December 11, 1914. They have made their home most of their married life in this community.
He took ill December 19 and was taken to the Rockwell hospital for several days and on showing improvement, he returned to his home December 26. Then on December 28, he turned worse and was taken to Mercy hospital at Mason City where he remained until the time of his death. His faithful wife remained at his bedside constantly until his death.
He was a man who always took great pride in his home and work.
He is survived by his wife, Maude Hansen; his aged mother, Mrs. Anna Hansen; two brothers -- Nels of Milwaukee, Wis., and Carl of Thornton; three sisters -- Mrs. Bryan Westover of Swaledale, Mrs. Nick Christensen of St. Paul, Minn., Ms. Lester Ringgenberg of Newton, besides several nieces and nephews. His father and one sister, Mrs. Lena Johnson, preceded him in death.
