Funeral services were held Friday morning, January 13 at St. Paul American Lutheran Church, for Etta Floy, 85, who died Tuesday, January 10, 1978 at Oakwood Manor nursing home in Clear Lake.
She was born on Sept. 19, 1892, to August and Julia Hansen on a farm near Thornton, Iowa. She was baptized November of 1892 in the Lutheran faith and was confirmed at the age of 14. She was an active and faithful member of St. Paul's American Lutheran Church all her life.
She was educated in the Thornton School and taught in a rural school.
On March 25, 1913 she was united in marriage to Carl Floy and their union was blessed with 8 children.
Etta lived in Thornton most of her life and was active in community affairs - including 4-H and Farm Bureau work.
7 years ago she moved to the nursing home in Clear Lake, and there she spent her remaining years.
