Obituary - Carl Matz Petersen Floy
April 25, 1888 ~ December 16, 1964

Last Rites Held for Carl M. Floy

Carl Matz Petersen Floy was born April 25, 1888 at Thornton, Iowa the son of Carl and Anna ‘Petersen' Floy. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith. On March 27, 1913 Carl was married to Henrietta Hansen. To this union was born 5 sons and 3 daughters. Preceding him in death were 2 sons and 2 daughters. Surviving are his wife, Etta and sons Merlin of Thornton, Vernon of Clear Lake; Lee of Galva, Illinois and one daughter, Ruth Berhendsen of Denver, Colo. Surviving also are 17 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

Carl spent his entire life in this community and was active in the Lutheran Church. He farmed until the time of his retirement in 1949 when they moved to Thornton.

Mr. Floy passed away at his home Wednesday afternoon December 16, 1964, following a lingering confinement to his home. Funeral services were held on Saturday, December 19, at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Thornton.
