Obituary - Dorothy Alma (Ingebretson) Conrin
September 24, 1924 ~ October 31, 2012

Dorothy Alma Conrin, 88, of Rockwell died Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2012, at Hospice of North Iowa.

A funeral service will held 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 3, at Swaledale United Methodist Church, 301 Main St., Swaledale. The Rev. John Scherb will be officiating. There will be a one hour prior visitation for family and friends. Interment will take place following the service at Pleasant View Cemetery in Thornton. Dorothy Conrin was born Sept. 24, 1924, in Thornton to Alfred and Laura Ingebretson. She grew up in Thornton. Dorothy attended Teachers College in Cedar Falls. She taught elementary classes in Floyd and Sheffield. On June 7, 1947, she was united in marriage to James Patrick Conrin. To this union two children were born. Dorothy and her husband raised their children and lived on a farm between Rockwell and Swaledale for most of their lives. Dorothy was a hard worker her whole life. She took care of her family and also helped out on the farm. She had a soft heart for animals. Dorothy liked gardening, cooking/baking, and canning. She was a patient gentle spirited person and enjoyed being with children. Above all else, Dorothy loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Those left to cherish her memory include her two children, Mary Conrin of Mason City and Jim Conrin of Chicago; two sisters, Alice Champion of Britt and Bethel Enabnit of Swaledale; brother, John Ingebreston of Thornton; and five grandchildren, Lauren Johnson, David Johnson, Lyndsey Johnson, Sean Conrin, and Sara Conrin.

She was preceded in death by her husband on June 14, 2000; her parents; and sisters, Helen Carstens and Miriam Mares.
