HOLD RITES FOR SARAH ANN FISH
AGED LAKE RESIDENT RETIRED FROM TEACHING PROFESSION IN 1915

CLEAR LAKE – Funeral services for Miss Sarah Ann Fish, 78, who died early Saturday following a long period of poor health, were held at Williams funeral home Monday afternoon. The Rev. Thomas B. Collins, pastor of the Methodist Church, conducted the rites and burial was in Clear Lake Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Walter Skene, Walter Smith, Walter Leonard, Otto Kutzner, C.F. Olsson and Lloyd Law, old friends and schoolmates of Miss Fish. Mrs. L.L. Bless arranged the flowers and Mrs. R.A. Monaghen sang “The Old Rugged Cross” and “Face to Face.”

Miss Fish, daughter of W.T. and Fredricka Fish, was born at Winona, Minn., Aug. 8, 1861, and moved with her mother, brothers, Fred and William T., grandfather and uncle, Frederick Langenberg, to Iowa in June, 1866.

The family settled on the farm now occupied by Mr. and Mrs. George Perkins, North Shore, and Miss Fish lived in the vicinity of Clear Lake and Ventura the remainder of her life. She taught school for many years, retiring in 1915.

Miss Fish is survived by a sister-in-law, Mrs. W.T. Fish, and by several distant relatives living in Minnesota.

Transcriber’s Note – Miss Sarah Ann Fish was born August 8, 1861, died September 23, 1935 and was buried in the Clear Lake Cemetery, Section 4 Row 2.
