ELAND SUCCUMBS AFTER ILLNESS
SERVICES PLANNED TUESDAY AT WILLIAMS FUNERAL HOME EAST MAIN

CLEAR LAKE – James M. Eland, 66, died at Mason City Saturday afternoon where he was being cared for after suffering poor health for one year. He had been confined to his bed for the past four months.

Mr. Eland has made his home with his son, Harry and family, on North Third Street for several years.

Services will be held Tuesday afternoon at the Williams Funeral Home at 2:30 o’clock, with Mrs. D.H. Campbell, of the First Church of Christ Scientist officiating. Burial will be made in the Clear Lake cemetery where his wife was buried five years ago.

Mr. Eland was born in 1870 in Denmark, coming to this country at the age of 18 and settling in Chicago. Thirty years ago he and his family moved to Mason City and later to Clear Lake where he owns a cottage on the Camp Grounds. He spent most of his life as a salesman.

In late years Mr. Eland was an ardent supporter of the Townsend old age pension plan and of the local club.

Surviving him are his two sons, Harry, Clear Lake; Earl of the U.S. Navy, San Diego, Cal.; and one daughter, Mrs. Russell Smith, Quinby, and seven grandchildren.
