ROLLAND V. SHARRATT

MASON CITY -- Rolland V. Sharratt, 80, of 1402 N. 24th St., Clear Lake, died Tuesday (May 7, 1996) at 110 N. Tennessee, Mason City, his daughter's residence.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Clear Lake United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bernard Olson and the Rev. Herb Shafer officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City.

Visitation will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. today at the Ward Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. Fourth Ave., Clear Lake, and one hour prior to services on Friday at the church. A Tina Rebekah and I.O.O.F. service will be held at 7 p.m. this evening. The family suggests memorials to the Clear Lake United Methodist Church Elevator Fund.

Rolland was born Feb. 16, 1916, in Lynd, Minn., the son of Elmer Leslie and Essa (Langworth) Sharratt. He moved to Clear Lake in 1936 and worked for Ed Rushia. Rolland married Irma Maassen on Sept. 10, 1937, in Redwood Falls, Minn.

Rolland worked for Sam Kennedy until 1945, then he started farming in the Clear Lake area until 1960. He then worked for Jim and Jack Kennedy until his retirement in 1986.

Rolland enjoyed riding his moped. He was a member of XYZ Club; North Iowa Golden Wedding Club; I.O.O.F. Lodge 187, Clear Lake; and Tina Rebekah Lodge 105, Clear Lake, where he also served as treasurer for 13 years. He attended Clear Lake United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Irma, of Clear Lake; two daughters, Laura Jean Austin and her husband, Bill, of Mason City, and Betty Ann Gosselin and her husband, Andy, of Liverpool, N.Y.; a son, David Allen Sharratt and his wife, Russie, of Wilmington, N.C.; two brothers, John Sharratt and his wife, Dorothy, of Baraboo, Wis., and Richard Sharratt and his wife, Vesta, of Lancaster, Calif.; three sisters, Irene Richards of Las Vegas, Nev., Marian Johnson and her husband, Lloyd, of Denver, Colo., and Gladys Weikert and her husband, Gordon, of Dresser, Wis.; six grandchildren, Robert Austin, Lori Anderson, Dineen Gosselin, Andrew Gosselin, Mark Sharratt and Wanda Sharratt; and two great-grandchildren, Brittany Paige Sharratt and Kristofer Austin.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Vernon Rolland Sharratt
