KEITH L. HAIGHT

MASON CITY - Keith L. Haight, 78, of 33 26th St. S.W., died Saturday (Oct. 27, 2001) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday at First United Methodist Church, 119 S. Georgia in Mason City, with the Rev. Douglas Anderson officiating. There will be no visitation, as his wish was to be cremated.

Keith L. Haight was born April 2, 1923, in Mason City, the son of Elgar Z. and Vivian (Baker) Haight. He graduated from Mason City High School in 1941. He married Marguerite VerHelst on Feb. 11, 1948, in Mason City.

Keith worked for the American Crystal Sugar Co. for thirteen years and farmed in the area for some 45 years. He helped build the Alcan Highway before entering the service. He served in the U. S. Army from June 1943 to November 1945.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Pleasant Ridge Club and he was a 4-H leader. Also a member of the American Legion, V.F.W., P.O.W. (Germany), D.A.V., and he was a driver for the D.A.V. transportation van. He also delivered meals on wheels as a volunteer.

He is survived by his wife, Marguerite L. (Sis) Haight of Mason City; daughter, Julie Haight Curran and husband Tom of Minneapolis, Minn.; son, Alan Haight and wife Cathy Peterson of Mason City, and Balkuu (Barney) Kumangai, Palau, Micronesia; grand-daughter, Katie Curran Lavendoski and husband John of Austin, Texas; sisters, Charleen B. Sivwright of Rockwell and Shirley Dean and husband Richard of Mason City; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Nancy in infancy, and a sister, Amy Poppen.
