ARTHUR G. BLESS

CLEAR LAKE - Arthur G. Bless, 66, of 802 N. 8th St., Unit #12, Clear Lake, died Tuesday (Sept. 17, 2002) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City. No services will be held. According to Art's wishes, his body will be cremated.

Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. Fourth St. in Clear Lake is in charge of the arrangements. Memorials may be directed to the Arthur G. Bless memorial fund % 802 N. 8th Street, Unit #12, Clear Lake, Iowa, 50428.

Art was born Feb. 22, 1936, in Mason City, the son of Arthur and Evelyn (Slagle) Bless. He attended schools in Ventura.

Art was in the United States Coast Guard. While on the coast, he met and married Joanne Dennison in Vermont on Aug. 25, 1970. Later on, they moved back to Iowa where Art worked for Dean Snyder Construction Co. and then for SMX Freight Lines, from where he retired.

After his retirement, Art found the time to read books, which he loved. He also fished, and fed the squirrels and birds outside his home.

Art will be missed by his wife, Joanne, of Clear Lake; three sons and their families, AJ and Debbie Bless and daughter, Tatum, of Scottsdale, Ariz.; Chris Bless of Clear Lake; and Ricky and Kathy Bless and sons, Blake and Tyler, of Candia, N.H.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
