ANNIE BAKER

Miss Annie Lucy Baker, 81, of Clear Lake, died Sunday, Feb. 13, 1994 at the I.O.O.F. Home in Mason City.

Funeral services will be held today (Wednesday), Feb. 16, at 1:30 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Clear Lake. The Rev. Fred Lewis will officiate. Burial will be in Clear Lake Cemetery. Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation will be held at noon Wednesday at the church. The family suggests memorials in her name, or to the United Methodist Church.

Annie Lucy Baker was born July 22, 1912, on the family farm called Pinewood Farm southwest of Clear Lake, the daughter of Laverne Charles and Gertrude (Wilson) Baker. She attended Lake Township School and graduated from Clear Lake High School in 1930 and the Normal Training Course. She taught Studyvin School in rural Clear Lake for one Year. She then moved to Plymouth, Iowa, where she taught elementary students for three years. In 1934 she moved back to Clear Lake to teach fourth and fifth graders at Central School. In 1971 she graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with a Bachelor of arts Degree. She retired from teaching in Clear Lake in 1975.

She liked to sew, cook and play the piano. For the past five years she has received exceptional care while living at the I.O.O.F. Home in Mason City. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Clear Lake.

She is survived by one sister, Mildred Baker, Clear Lake; many cousins and special friend, Joan Eness, Clear Lake. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sets of twin brothers; and a sister, Viola Ruth Baker.
