Obituary ~ Allen J. Meinecke
March 22, 1915 ~ August 26, 2006

MASON CITY — Allen Meinecke, 91, of Rushford, Minn., formerly of Mason City, died Saturday (Aug. 26, 2006) at the Good Shepherd Home in Rushford, Minn., of natural causes.

His body was donated to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., for medical research. A small prayer service was held by the immediate family.

Allen was born in Forest City, Iowa, on March 22, 1915. He worked for Canteen Vending Services for 35 years. He and his wife owned the Ben Franklin store on North Federal for ten years.

Allen was a member of the First Congregational Church, 100 First St. N.E., Mason City for many years. He was a Navy Veteran of World War II and a member of the Elks Club.

He lived in Donna, Texas, and most recently moved to Rushford, Minn.

Allen enjoyed ballroom dancing and cycling, participating in 13 RAGBRAI bicycle rides. He and his wife also provided housing for Hamilton College students.

He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Ardis, of Rushford, Minn.; son, Rick, of Minnetrista, Minn.; and daughter, Linda (Bob) Crowell, of Sheldon, Iowa; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by both of his parents; his brothers, Glenn and Russel; and his wife of 50 years, June.
