Obituary ~ Otis Eleazer Kellogg
February 04, 1859 ~ January 24, 1921

Otis E. Kellogg was born February 4, 1859, in Jackson County, Iowa. He was the youngest son of Charles W. and Jerusha Kellogg. He was married to Eliza M. Graf on March 30, 1886, at Clinton, Iowa. Otis spent all his life at Miles with the exception of the last 18 years. He and his family moved to Mason City, in 1902. The next 16 years were spent on the farm, and the following two years at their home at 203 13th N.E., Mason City.

Mr. Kellogg was suddenly stricken with paralysis at his home on Friday, January 14, between 6 or 7 p.m., and although all was done that loving hands and medical skill could do, he passed to the eternal reward on Tuesday, January 25, 1921 at 1:30 p.m. being almost 62 years old. The funeral was held at the home on Friday afternoon, January 28, Dr. Dibble, pastor of the Congregational Church, conducting the services with interment in the Elmwood Cemetery.

There are left to mourn his loss, his faithful wife and four children -- Earl S. Kellogg and Miss Pearl B. Kellogg, of Mason City; Lloyd G. Kellogg, of Manly; and Mrs. Ethel L. Mensch, of Rock Island, Illinois, also two small grand- children, Glenn Charles and Ruth Kellogg. Two brothers also survive him, Winfield S. Kellogg and Warren C. Kellogg, both of Miles.

The death of this former resident causes a feeling of loss among his many friends here. Otis was a good natured generous man, a good hearted neighbor, a devoted husband and a kind father. He joined the M.E. Church at Miles in his youth, and later united with the Congregational Church at Mason City. The Reporter extends sympathy to the bereaved family.
