MENA C. SHOOK August 4, 1889 – April 6, 1984

Mena C. Shook, 94, of 100 No. 5th St., Clear Lake, died Friday (April 6, 1984) at a Clear Lake nursing home.

She was born Aug. 4, 1889 in Clear Lake to Charles and Lena (Larson) Eliason, and attended area schools. She worked as a seamstress. She married Alfred I. Shook on Dec. 31, 1908 in Clear Lake.

They farmed in the Clear Lake area, and moved into town around 1930. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and the ALCW of the church.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake. The Rev. Robert Rod, associate pastor at Zion Lutheran Church in Clear Lake officiated. Burial was in Clear Lake Cemetery. The family requests memorials be given to Zion Lutheran Church in Clear Lake.

Mrs. Shook is survived by a foster daughter, Mrs. William (Lucille) Steuben, Rockford; two grandchildren, David Steuben, Jesup, and Mrs. Kenneth (Carol) Kiss, Dubuque, and four great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers for the service were Warren Jensen, Frank Baker, David Steuben, Kenneth Kiss, Lloyd Johnson and Howard Knutson. Organist was Louise Folkmann, and soloist, Linda Nuehring.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
