N. VAN HORN FOUND DEAD
CLEAR LAKE – Noah Van Horn, 49, 109 Prospect Ave., was found dead at his home at 8:30 p.m. Friday night by his son, Dean Van Horn.
Coroner Dr. J. E. Christopherson said the death was suicide and was caused by shotgun wounds in his chest. He set the time of shooting from noon to 2 p.m. Friday. No note was found but his family said he had been despondent recently.
He is survived by his wife, Flossie, two sons, Dean and Robert, both of Clear Lake; three grandchildren and two foster children, Harold Thompson, Pomona, Calif.; and Mrs. Richard Fehrman, Omaha.
Also surviving are six brothers, Henry, Detroit; Sophus, Philadelphia; Donald and William, Waukon; Harley, Kensett and Dallas Van Horn, Mason City, and eight sisters, Marjorie O’Brien, Fowlerville, Mich.; Mrs. Peter (Charlotte) Freihling, Brighton, Mich.; Mrs. Fritz (Winnie) Diedrich and Mrs. William Gerlach, Detroit; Mrs. Claude (Laura) Fenton, Houghton, Mich.; Mrs. Elwin (Eva) McCoy, Wheaton, Minn.; Mrs. E. S. (Crystal) Nierling, Mable, Minn.and Mrs. Wilbur (Cora) Gray, Jean, Nev.
Noah Van Horn was born Feb. 25, 1907, the son of Benjamin and Lenore Buffington Van Horn. He had lived in Clear Lake for 23 years. He was employed at Jacob E. Decker and Sons packing plant for many years.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Wilcox Funeral Home with the Rev. A. D. Kurtz officiating. Burial will be in Clear Lake Cemetery.
