FRANK WARD RITES TO BE WEDNESDAY
SEPTEMBER 13, 1893 – NOVEMBER 6, 1961CLEAR LAKE – Frank Ward, 68, was found dead in his home, 1006 2nd Ave, S., Sunday evening by a friend. Dr. Joseph E. Christopherson, Cerro Gordo County medical examiner, said death had occurred several days ago.
Mr. Ward had made his home with his sister, Mrs. Dan Wenzel, who had gone to Rudd Thursday morning to visit her son.
Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Ward Funeral Home, Clear Lake. The Rev. Lloyd Kellams, pastor of the Wesley Methodist Church, Mason City, will officiate. Burial will be in Clear Lake Cemetery.
Mr. Ward was born Sept. 13, 1893, at Boscobel, Wis., son of Frank and Celia (Sanders) Ward. He attended school in Boscobel and moved with his family to Mason City in 1907. He was employed by the Northwestern States Portland Cement Co., a number of years.
He joined the People’s Gas and Electric Co. in 1924 and continued his employment with the Interstate Power Co. until August 1958 when he retired with 34 years of service.
He was married to Lela Kneeskern in 1913 in Mason City. She preceded him in death in 1933. He was married to Lucretia Fjone in 1951.
Mr. Ward was a member of Wesley Methodist Church, Harding Masonic Lodge and the Moose Lodge of Mason City and the Shriners of Cedar Rapids.
Surviving are his wife, Lucretia; a daughter, Mrs. Wayne (Wanda) VanNote, Mason City; two sisters, Mrs. Dan (Flossie) Wenzel, Clear lake and Mrs. Halvor (Bessie) Holmes, Burlington, Wash.; a grandson and a great granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Walter and W. H. Ward, former mayor of Clear Lake.
