MRS. ARTHUR PEDERSEN’S RITES FRIDAY
AUGUST 11, 1898 – DECEMBER 3, 1968CLEAR LAKE – Mrs. Arthur Pedersen, 70, Route 1, Swaledale, died Monday night at her farm home.
Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday in Zion Lutheran Church here with the Rev, Murley A. Severtson officiating. Burial will be in Mount Vernon Cemetery. Visitations will be at the Ward-Van Slyke Funeral Home after 2 p.m. Wednesday.
Mary Elizabeth Pedersen was born Aug. 11, 1898 in Franklin County near Thornton, the daughter of Otto and Mary Johanson. She received her education in rural schools in the Thornton area.
She was married to Arthur Pedersen Sept. 26, 1917 at Mason City. They farmed near Kasson, Minn., for two years. In 1921, they returned to the farm in Mount Vernon Township which they farmed until retirement in 1961 and continued to live there.
Mrs. Pedersen is survived by her husband, one daughter, Mrs. Jimmie (Alma) Hanley, Clear Lake, three sons, John and Ervin Pedersen, both of Swaledale; and Robert Pedersen, Osage, two brothers August Johanson, Pharr, Tex., and Emil Johanson, Kulm, N.D.; four sisters, Mrs. Albert (Anna) Mikkelson, Chicago, Mrs. Augusta Oelkers, Sheffield, Mrs. Otto (Tillie) Olson, Ridgeland, Wis., and Mrs. Viggo (Christina) Skov, Des Moines; 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Clarence, in 1965; two children in infancy and a brother and sister.
She was a member of the Sing and Sew Club.
Pallbearers selected were nephews Clifford Pedersen, Oscar Jensen, Rick Jensen, James Kottman, Gary Younge and Robert Younge.
