CLEAR LAKE - Hallie Bell Mack, 96, of Clear Lake, died Wednesday (May 15, 2002) at her home.
Her funeral will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday at the First Congregational Church, 205 West 10th Ave. North, Clear Lake, with the Rev. Thomas Healey officiating. Interment will follow at the Clear Lake Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Sunday at the Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 North 4th Street, Clear Lake, and also for one hour before the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the First Congregational Church.
Hallie was born Aug. 9, 1905, in Clear Lake, at the home where she passed away. She was one of four children born to Harry S. Bell and Bertha Pride Bell, Clear Lake pioneers. She graduated from Clear Lake High School in 1923 and from Hamilton Business College in Mason City.
She was employed as a secretary at the First National Bank, Clear Lake, before her marriage to Earl E. Mack in 1927. Two children were born to their union, Audrey and Richard.
Hallie enjoyed collecting information and pictures about the history of Clear Lake and tracing and recording family history. She also loved creative writing, poetry and painting and drawing portraits and scenery.
She was a lifetime member of the First Congregational Church, a member of the North Iowa Genealogical Society, and a member for many years of the Lake View Club.
Hallie is survived by her daughter, Audrey Mack Peterson and her husband, Bill J., of Clearwater, Fla.; four grandchildren, David Mack Peterson of Indian Rocks Beach, Fla., Steven Jon Peterson of Largo, Fla., Michael Scott Peterson and his wife, Debbra, of Largo, Fla., and Jeffrey Todd Peterson and his wife, Missy, of Indian Rocks Beach, Fla., and five great-grandchildren, Cody, Jessie, Kona, Garrett and Jake Peterson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl; her son, Richard and his wife, Margaret; two sisters, Merna Deputy and Carol Josten; and a brother, Don Bell.
