RANSEFORD "RANSE” E. LANE

CLEAR LAKE - Ranseford “Ranse” E. Lane, 82, of Clear Lake, died Tuesday (May 27, 1997) at North Iowa Mercy Health Center East, Mason City.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Congregational Church, with the Rev. Thomas Healey officiating. Inurnment will take place at a later date.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. until time of services on Saturday at the church. Following the services, cremation will take place. Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. Fourth St., is in charge of arrangements. The family of Ranseford “Ranse” E. Lane has requested that memorial contributions be made to the Congregational Church Endowment Fund in his memory.

Ranseford “Ranse” E. Lane was born on Oct. 5, 1914, in Grinnell, the son of Roy and Bernice (Dutro) Lane. He attended and received his education in the Clear Lake school system.

After completing his schooling, he was inducted into the United States Navy serving as an underwater welder during World War II.

After his honorable discharge, he began working for the Lewis Marine Company in Clear Lake where he piloted the Princess and the Rocket Boats for 25 years. He also worked for Sieg Auto Parts as a salesman in Mason City for 10 years until his retirement.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, trap shooting, and was an avid sports fan.

He was a member of the Congregational Church in Clear Lake, Ventura Gun Club and the River City Rifle and Pistol Club in Mason City.

Survivors include his wife, Kathryn Lane of Clear Lake; two sons and two daughters; one brother, James Lane and his wife, Jane, of Mesa, Ariz.; several nieces and nephews; as well as other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Don Lane; and one sister, Marilyn Drew.
