Maxine May Ormsby, 86, 1887 200th St., Ventura, Iowa, died Sunday, Oct. 5, 2003
at her home. A Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, Oct. 8, 10:30 a.m. at St.
Patrick's Catholic Church, 1001 9th Ave S. Clear Lake, with Msgr. Robert Hogan
officiating. Interment will be held at the Clear Lake Cemetery. Memorials may be
given to the Maxine May Ormsby Memorial Fund.

Maxine was born Feb. 28, 1917, on the family farm south of Ventura, the daughter
of Albert and Josephine (Stork) Thronson. She graduated from Ventura High School
in 1934. She farmed with her parents and brother. Maxine married James E. Ormsby
Oct. 22, 1946 at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Garner, Iowa. They continued to
live on her family farm.

Maxine's life centered on her family, making sure all their birthdays and
holidays were very special. She also enjoyed gardening, playing cards and games,
quilting, knitting and cooking. She made a special quilt for each of her three
daughters and seven grandchildren. Maxine and Jim celebrated 56 years together.
Maxine was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, Garner, and the Union Dozen
Club.

Maxine is survived by her husband, James E. Ormsby, Ventura; three daughters,
Kathy Meinecke and her husband, Don, Forest City, Iowa, Karen Purcell and her
husband, Dan, Clear Lake, and Joan Losey and her husband, Brad, Clear Lake and
seven grandchildren, Christopher and Jennifer Meinecke; Mike, Matthew, Benjamin
and Rachel Purcell; and Courtney Losey.

Maxine was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Charles and Francis
Thronson and one grandchild, Sarah Purcell.
