Myra Aileen (York) Eastman, 82, longtime Clear Lake, Iowa resident, died
Saturday, June 7, 1997, at the Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason
City, Iowa.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 10 at the United Methodist Church in
Clear Lake with the Rev. Fred Lewis officiating. Burial was in the Clear Lake
Cemetery. The Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel was in charge of arrangements.

The family of Myra Aileen (York) Eastman has requested that memorial
contributions be made to the United Methodist Church in Clear Lake or to the
Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City, in her memory.

Myra Aileen (York) Eastman was born on Oct. 9, 1914, in Clear River, Minn.,
the daughter of Harry and Emmeline Nettie (Reinhart) York. She attended and
received her education in the Warroad, Minn. Schools graduating from Warroad
High School in 1932, and began teaching country school at the age of 16. She
graduated from Bemidji State Teachers College in 1938 and taught school in
Williams and Staples, Minn. While teaching in Staples she met her future
husband, Donald Spilman Eastman, and they were united in marriage on Sept. 20,
1946, and made their home in Clear Lake. He preceded her in death in February
1985.

Myra was a substitute teacher in Clear Lake for many years and was also
a Brownie Scout Leader. She also helped her husband, Don, at the grain
elevator during harvest. In more recent years she had been active in the
Methodist Church Altar Guild, Ruth Circle, Clear Lake Women's Club, Craft
Club, Methodist Lunch Bunch, and the Double F (Fat Fighters) Club. She was
also a member of the Tina Rebekah Lodge #105, of Clear Lake.

She is survived by her daughter, Miriam Eden and her husband, Jim, of Mason
City, step-daughter, Millus Charlson of Waterloo, Iowa; a sister, Ada Gifford
Simons of Rosedale, Minn.; a brother, Harold York of Bemidji, Minn.; a niece,
Linda York Bowman of Bemidji; sister-in-law, Violet White Larson of Clear
Lake; step-grandchildren, Steve Charlson, Waterloo, Anne Hatoum and her
husband, Nassir of West Des Moines, Iowa, Carolyn Ferry and her husband, Mark,
of Ft. Dodge, Iowa, Susan Charlson, Ft. Dodge, and Chris and Lori Eden, Brett
and Kim Eden and Jason Eden all of Mason City; as well as many nieces and
nephews and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; parents-in-law, Earl and Annie
Eastman; her husband, Donald Spilman Eastman in February 1985; step-son, Earl
James Eastman; a brother, Alan York; sisters-in-law, Carroll Baago and Carol
York; brothers-in-law, Clarence Gifford, E. Wesley Simons, and Robert White
Sr.; nephew, Robert White Jr.; and step-grandson, Scott James Eden.

Organist Mary Jane Reynolds accompanied soloist Larry Shaffer

Honorary pallbearers were all of her many friends.

Pallbearers were Richard White, Russell White, Tadley White, Ron White, Jason
White, Kim Pleggenkuhle.
