Leora H. Nye, 92, Clear Lake, died Monday, Oct. 4, 2004 at Oakwood Care Center,
Clear Lake. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, Oct. 6, 11 a.m. at the
First Congregational Church, 205 W. 10th Ave N., Clear Lake, with the Rev. Thom
Christian officiating. Visitation will be at 10 a.m. preceding the service.
Interment will be at the Clear Lake Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the
Leora H. Nye Memorial Fund.

Leora was born Feb. 16, 1912, in Decorah, Iowa, the daughter of Carl and Ella
(Olson) Hanson. Leora graduated from Decorah High School in 1929. She worked
at Penney's as a bookkeeper in Decorah. She married Howard J. Nye June 19,
1937 in Clear Lake. They lived in Tripoli, Iowa until they moved back to Clear
Lake in 1939. She worked at Hansen's, Imperial Seed Co, Graham's Dept. Store
and did alterations for Verna's Fashion Shoppe. She made caps and gowns for
P.T. Castle Co. She was the resident manager for Lakeland Apartments for 15
months. She went to be a resident of Oakwood Care Center in 2001.
Leora loved crocheting, knitting, watching her soap opera on TV and shopping.

She was a great mom and grandmother; her actions spoke louder than her words.
Leora was a member of the First Congregational Church, Clear Lake.

Leora is survived by three children, Karen Nye, Mason City, Amy Snow and her
husband, Dwight, Fridley, Minn. and Kevin Nye, Clear Lake; six grandchildren,
Eric Meyer and his wife, Jennifer, Farmington, Minn., Rebecca Snow Whitaker and
her husband, Mike, Phoenix, Az., Curtis Snow and Crysten Snow, Fridley, Casey
Nye, Fayette, Iowa and Cory Nye, Clear Lake; two great-grandchildren, Lauren
and Ethan Meyer.

Leora was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Ward-Van Slyke Colonial
Chapel, Clear Lake, was in charge of arrangements.
