Elaine Grace Phinney, 67, of Clear Lake, Iowa, died Saturday, May 24, 1997 at
her home.

Funeral services will be held today (Wednesday), May 28, at 10:30 a.m. at the
United Methodist Church in Clear Lake, with the Rev. Fred Lewis officiating.
Burial will be in the Clear Lake Cemetery.

The family suggests memorials be made to the Elaine G. Phinney Memorial Fund.

Elaine was born July 25, 1929 in Vermillion, S.D., the daughter of Raymond W.
and Twila L. (Clark) Harrington. She graduated from Vermillion High School and
attended the University of South Dakota at Yankton, S.D., marjoring in music.

She married George Eugene Phinney Sept. 11, 1949 in Vermillion. The couple
divorced Jan. 5, 1961.

Elaine moved to Clear Lake from Mason City in 1959 and resided here since. She
was a bookkeeper and receptionist for the Clear Lake Medical Group, did
babysitting, and was previously employed by the Libby Owens Glass Co. She had
been a realtor in Clear Lake since 1972.

Her work as a realtor, along with the joys of being a grandmother, were very
important to her.

Elaine was a member and ambassador of the United Methodist Church in Clear Lake.
She also enjoyed membership in the Clear Lake V.F.W. Auxiliary, Tina Rebekah
Lodge in Clear Lake, Clear Lake Lioness Club, Clear Lake Area Chamber of
Commerce, Chamber First Mates and Clear Lake Board of Realtors.

She is survived by three sons, Douglas Phinney and his wife, Leeza, of Ventura,
Iowa, Dean Phinney and his wife, Teresa, of Iowa City, Iowa, and Don Phinney, of
Clear Lake; a brother, Robert Harrington and his wife, Ethel, of Clear Lake; and
five grandchildren, Justin, Melissa, Brandon, Ashley and Anthony Phinney.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Gordon Harrington; and an
infant sister.
