Marian Eleanore Holt, 93, Clear Lake, died peacefully March 16, 2010,
surrounded by family. A funeral service was held Friday, March 19, at Zion
Lutheran Church, Clear Lake, with the Rev. Dean Hess and Pastor Ken Meckler
officiating.

Interment will be at the Clear Lake Cemetery.

Marian was born Feb. 2, 1917 in Evanston, Ill., the daughter of John E. and
Eleanore (Hermanson) Eliasen. Marian and her family moved to Clear Lake when
she was two years old. She graduated from Clear Lake High School in 1935.
Marian married Keith A. Holt May 19, 1940 at Zion Lutheran Church and to this
union three children were born.

Marian was primarily a housewife, loving to be with her children and enjoying
her gardens, working with flowers and doing crafts of all kinds. As a mother
she was a Brownie and Girl Scout leader, President of the PTA and taught Sunday
School. Being involved with the community, she was a member of the Friendly
Garden Club, Women’s Club, Danish Sisterhood, started the Senior Citizens Club
and many more.

She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, active in Zion Lutheran Women’s
Circle, Altar Guild, visitation committee, decorating and making quilts.
Whatever group she was in, she worked hard for them and served as president of
most groups.

Marian worked at various places during her life. As a young woman, she
waitressed at the coffee shop in the Hanford Hotel and later worked at Olaf T.
Hanson’s as a clerk and at Johnson Paint and Gift as a floral arranger and
clerk. A life-long resident of Clear Lake, Marian also loved sharing her
summers with family and friends at the family cabin in Longville, Minn.

She enjoyed tremendous support and friendships living the last three years at
Apple Valley Assisted Living in Clear Lake.

Marian is survived by her three children, John Holt and his wife, Ann, Blaine,
Minn., Bonnie Hewitt and her husband, Bob, Maple Grove, Minn. and Judy Truex and
her husband, Tom, Eden Prairie, Minn.; grandchildren, Jeff Holt, Wendy Payton
and her husband, Spiro, Adam Hewitt and fiancé, Jessica Anderson, Ryan Hewitt
and his wife, Jen, John Truex and his wife, Tara and David Truex;
great-grandchildren, Kennedy Payton, Iris Hewitt, Eleanor Hewitt and Maya Truex;
brother-in-law, Jim King and many nieces, nephews, and numerous friends.

Marian is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Keith Holt (Dec. 8, 1982);
brother, Harry Eliasen; sister, Leona King; and nephew, Curtis King.

Memorials may be given to the Marian Holt Memorial Fund, c/o John Holt, 747
97th Ave NE, Blaine, MN 55434. Memorials will be given to Hospice of North Iowa,
Central Gardens of Clear Lake, Zion Lutheran Church, and Clear Lake Arts Center.
