Phebe Rogers, 91, of Clear Lake, Iowa died Sunday, Dec. 14, 1997 at Good
Shepherd Healthcare Center, Mason City, lowa.

Funeral services will he held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial
Chapel, 101 N. 4th St., Clear Lake, with the Rev. Thomas Healey of First
Congregational Church, Clear Lake, offleiating. Burial will be in Clear Lake
Cemetery.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on
Saturday.

Phebe Rogers was born Aug. 18, 1906 in Clear Lake, the daughter of Ross
Richardson and Harriet Adelaide (Rice) Rogers. Phebe graduated from Clear Lake
High School in 1923 and then graduated from Mason City Junior College. She
worked for four years as a secretary to the Superintendent of Clear Lake
Schools.

Phebe attended Hamilton Business College for nine months and worked for a
couple of years ion Mason City. In 1935, Phebe went to Washington D.C. and
worked for the government for three years. She then transferred to Chicago,
lll., still working for the Securities and Exchange Commission. While in
Washington, she took a night course at George Washington University.

After 15 years in the government, Phebe started working in private industry.
She worked for Oxford Ltd. Furniture Company and then worked for Curtis Candy
Company, a subsidiary of Standard Brands and then of Nabisco Brands. She
retired from Curtis Candy Company in 1971 and returned to Clear Lake. Phebe
enjoyed playing bridge, golfing and bowling.

She was a member of the First Congregational Church, Clear Lake; the Crescent
Club; the Hi-Lo Bridge Club and Monday Bridge Club; and the NARFE Organization
(National Association of Federal Employees).

Survivors include one niece, Mary Marshall and her husband, Gary Canoga Park,
Calif; two nephews, Richard Rogers of Clear Lake, and John Rogers and his
wife, June, of Burlington, Iowa; one sister-in-law, Darlene Rogers, Clear
Lake; many great-nieces amd great-nephews; and several great-great-nieces and
great-great-nephews .

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Kingsley Rogers.
