Birdeva Edgar, 106, of Clear Lake, died Wednesday, May 12, 2004 at the Good
Shepherd Care Center, Mason City, Iowa.

Funeral services will be Thursday, May 20, 10:30 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church,
112 N. 4th St.,Clear Lake, with the Rev. Derik Yarian and Dick Scott, Lay
Assistant at Zion Lutheran Church, officiating. Graveside services will be
Thursday 3 p.m. at the Riverside Cemetery, Marshalltown, Iowa. Family suggests
memorials to Hospice of North Iowa.

Birdeva was born Sept. 2, 1897 in Pocahontas County, Iowa on her grandparents
farm (John and Sarah Brown) the daughter of Edward Phillip and Lillian May
(Brown) Trenary.

She attended Buena Vista Academy, Morningside College, Highland Park College and
graduated from St. Thomas Hospital School of Nursing in Marshalltown in 1922.

While working as an R.N. at the Veterans Hospital in Battle Creek, Mich., she
met her husband to be, Harold Edgar. They were married Oct.6, 1925 in Crown
Point, Ind.

She has lived in Clear Lake from 1929 until April of 2000, when she moved to the
Good Shepherd Care Center, Mason City, Iowa.

In December of 2001, at the age of 104, she was inducted into the D.A.R. as a
descendant of John Cook, who served in the Revolutionary War. In addition, she
is a descendant of George Soule, who came to Plymouth, Mass. in 1620 on the
Mayflower.

She is survived by three sons, Wallace (Jean) Edgar of Scottsdale, Az., Cleworth
(Marleah) Edgar of Green Valley, Az. and Wesley (Myrna) Edgar of Phoenix, Az.;
daughter-in-law, Bonnie Edgar, of Clear Lake; 11 grandchildren, Mark (Cathy)
Edgar of Rancho Santa Fe, Calif., Jody (Mike) Rodack of Tucson, Az., Kathy
(Mike) Da Walt of Shawano, Wis., Debbie (Randy) Bryan of Clear Lake, Lauri
(Leroy) Thorson, of Little Canada, Minn., Nancy Edgar of Flagstaff, Az., Brian
(Jennifer) Edgar of Chanhassen, Minn., Steven (Laurel) Edgar, of Phoenix, Az.,
Vicki ( Don) Weeks, of Newbury Park, Calif., Kim (Tim) Peelen, of Gilbert, Az.
and Michael (Linda) Edgar, of Peoria, Az. In addition, she is survived by 20
great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold; son, Darrell Edgar; grandson,
Brad Edgar; brother, Lyle Trenary and sister, Gladys Keables.

By living in three different centuries, Birdeva has watched the automobile, the
radio, television, and the computer change the everyday lives of everyone.
