Wilma M. Herker passed away at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minn. on April
15, 2005. The family invites all friends and family to a visitation of
remembrance and celebration on Wed., April 20, from 4:30 until 8 p.m. at the
Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake. A private family interment service
will take place at later date at Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City, Iowa. The
family requests that memorials be directed to Harmony Ranch.

Wilma was born in Ottumwa, Iowa, the daughter of M. Arlington and Cecil
(Morehouse) King. She was united in marriage to Amil Herker, Jr. in Des
Moines, Iowa. She and Amil moved to Clear Lake in 1954 and moved from Clear
Lake to Mason City in 2000.

Wilma was the office manager and bookkeeper for the Clear Lake Sanitary District
for 30 and a one-half years, retiring in February of 1991. She enjoyed serving
as the charter secretary for the Iowa Water Pollution Control Association
Auxiliary and was the past president of that organization as well. She also
served as the newsletter editor for the Iowa Water Pollution Control
Association for several years.

Volunteer work was a vital part of Wilma's life. She served as a Girl Scout
leader, a volunteer disc jockey at KCMR Radio, was a Red Cross Gray Lady,
volunteered with the American Cancer Society, the Discovery Shop, and she was a
volunteer with the Mercy Medical Center Auxiliary. Following retirement she
and Amil enjoyed taking several cruises.

Wilma is survived by her husband, Amil, of Mason City; her son, Donald, and his
wife, Sumae, of Clear Lake; daughter, Beth Ann, and her husband, Mark
Schumacher of Clear Lake; and son, Martin, and his wife, Anita, of Traer, Iowa.
She is also survived by grandchildren Rene, Joseph, Abigail, Ashley, Stephan and
Jennifer and great-granddaughters Jessica, Megan, Sabrina, and Avery.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers and one sister.
