Kenneth R. Coe, 81, of Ventura, Iowa, died Saturday, April 4, 1998, at
Oakewood Care Center, Clear Lake, Iowa.

Funeral services were held today (Wednesday), April 8, at 10 a.m. at Ventura
United Methodist Church, with the Rev. David Gobeli officiating. Burial will
be in the Ventura Cemetery.

The Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. 4th Street, Clear Lake, was in
charge of arrangments.

Kenneth R. Coe was born Oct. 31, 1916, in Mason City, Iowa, the son of Wilbur
and Blanche (Porter) Coe. He married Nan Rhodes on Oct. 8, 1942, in Hardford,
Conn.

Kenny grew up in Ventura and graduated from Ventura High School in 1936. He
served in the Army during World War II. Kenny worked for Northern Natural Gas
for 28 years until retiring.

Kenny loved hunting, fishing, trap shooting and bird watching. He enjoyed
playing cards and gardening. He was a member of Ventura United Methodist
Church, the American Legion, and a charter member of the Ventura Gun Club.

He is survived by three children, Kenneth R. Coe Jr., and his wife, Sharon,
Ventura, Leila Coe, Ventura, and Les Coe and his wife, Jan, Alton, Iowa; a
special aunt, Ruth Coe, Grand Rapids, Minn.; four grandchildren, Kendra Coe
and her special friend, John, Rochester, Minn., Kamara Dyre and her husband,
Jay, Ventura, and Randi and Kati Coe, both of Alton; two great-grandchildren,
Dustin and Debbie Dyre, both of Ventura; three brothers, Cecil Coe and his
wife, Irene, North Branch, Minn., Frosty Coe and his wife, Ginny, Ventura;
Larry Coe and his wife, Jane, Ventura; one sister, Cleo Overgaard, Ventura;
and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; one brother, Ted Coe; one
sister, Joy Currier; and two brothers-in-law, Harold Currier and Bill
Overgaard.
