Evalena "Heavy" Coe, 85, of 203 Park Ave., Ventura, Iowa died Saturday, July 27,
2002 at the Oakwood Care Center, Clear Lake. Funeral services were Tuesday,
July 30, 2002 at the Ventura United Methodist Church with Pastor Audrey
Westendorf Young officiating. Interment was in the Ventura Cemetery. Family
suggests memorials to Evalena Coe Memorial fund.

Heavy was born April 13, 1917 in Ventura, Iowa the daughter of Addison H. and
Elina (Bach) Cooley. She graduated from Ventura High School in 1936.
She married Theodore Coe on Nov. 28 and they moved to Grand Rapids Minn. They
later returned to Ventura where she cooked at various restaurants and at Bishop
Morrison Lodge church camp. For thirty-five years she was cook for the Ventura
Schools, retiring in 1987. She also did upholstery and later operated a ceramic
shop at her home. Halloween was always special for Heavy, as she made popcorn
balls for the town and dressed in costume.

Heavy enjoyed crocheting, quilting, crafts and especially having her family
around her. She was a member of Ventura United Methodist Church, Ventura, Iowa.

Heavy is survived by four children: Elsie Rist and her husband, Ron, Moneta,
Va., Bill Coe and his wife, Carolyn, Ventura, Linda Stricker and her husband,
Richard, Ventura, and Gary Coe, Ventura; six grandchildren: Eric Coe and his
wife, Judi, Lakewood, Colo., Colette Sampson and her husband, Michael, Mason
City, Iowa, Aaron Coe and his fiancée, Shawnette Crawford, Great Falls, Mont.,
William M. Case, Sebeka, Minn., Donald Case and his wife, Monica, Mason City,
Iowa and Gary Case and his wife, Sandy, Garner, Iowa; five great-grandchildren:
Nick Coe, Jennifer Coe, Clayton Sampson, Kacy Sampson and Austin Bailey Case;
one brother, Orland "Bud" Cooley and his wife, Doris, Ridgeway, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ted, in 1997; three brothers,
Clarence, Lawrence and Arnold Cooley; and one sister, Ida Cooley Morse.
