IBARRA, MONTELONGO, SANCHEZ

Gilbert Ibarra, 57, of 117 N. 14th St., Clear Lake, died Thursday (April 10, 1986) at his home. Mass was held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Clear Lake. The Rev. Paul Lippstock, pastor of Holy Family Church in Mason City, officiated. Burial was in Clear Lake Cemetery.

Mr. Ibarra was born Sept. 2, 1928 at Nava Cohuila, Mexico, to Pedro and Cipriana (Montelongo) Ibarra. He attended school in Mexico until sixth grade. He farmed with his father in Mexico. On Sept. 18, 1948, he married Ida Y. Sanchez at Nava Cohuila. They farmed and operated a milk route and grocery store in Mexico from 1950 – 1953.

In 1954, they Came to the United States where he worked for a short time in Texas. In 1956, they moved to Clear Lake and he was employed with Sam Kennedy and Sons for several years. For the past 13 years he was employed with Kennedy Farms. Mr. Ibarra enjoyed painting and doing body work on automobiles. He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Clear Lake.

Survivors include his wife, Ida; his three sons, Jerry, Clear Lake, Iowa; Hector and wife Vicki of Iowa City, Iowa; and Alberto and wife Lucia of Nava Cohuila, Mexico; his mother, Cipriana, of Nava Cohuila; a sister, Mrs. Aseneion Bermea, Nava Cohuila; five brothers, Agustin, San Jose, Calif.; Gregorio, Crystal City, Texas, and Victor, Blas and Alvero; all of Nava Cohuila, and seven grandchildren.

Honorary Pallbearers were Don Fin, Bill Kennedy, Dean Moffett, Rogelio Ortiz, Jim Kennedy and Israel Solano. Pallbearers were Joe DeLaFuente, Rolland Sharratt, Gus Brandt, Duane Floy, Louis Vavrik, and Carlos Melendez.
