COX, HOOTS, DICKES

Emma Cox, 92, of Cedaredge, Colo. and formerly of Clear Lake, died Sunday, July
25, 2010 at the Delta County Memorial Hospital in Delta, Colo.

She will be buried next to her husband in Memorial Park Cemetery, Highway 18
West, Mason City, Iowa at a later date.

Emma was born on May 9, 1918 in Rockwell, Iowa the daughter of Fred and Eliza
Hoots. She attended and graduated from the Rockwell school system. After
completing her schooling, she worked at the Clear Lake Bakery for a short time.

She was united in marriage to Cecil “Kid” Cox on March 22, 1939 at the Little
Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. After their marriage they took up farming and
raised cattle south of Clear Lake for 23 years. They then moved to Algona, Iowa
where Cecil managed the Algona Sale Barn. They also worked in the beef industry
in Ulysses, Kansas until retiring in 1977. Kid and Emma moved to Mountain Home,
Ark. before moving back to Clear Lake in 1981. After Kid died, Emma moved to
Cedaredge.

She enjoyed gardening, cards and her dog, Maggie.

She is survived by two sons, James Cox and his wife, Linda, of Redstone, Colo.,
and Glenn Cox and his wife, Marian, of Kingston, Wash.; one daughter, Jo Dickes
and her husband, Bill, of Cedaredge; seven grandchildren, James B. Cox, Chrissy
Nilsen, Debbie Iffert, Laurie Cox, David Cox, Paul Poppell and Kathryn Fangman;
five great-grandchildren; as well as other relatives and friends.
