David Gordon Harrington, 61, Clear Lake, died Saturday, Dec. 26, 2009, at his
home.A memorial service for David will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 30, at
the Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 North 4th Street, Clear Lake, with the
Rev. Dianna Hoover of the United Methodist Church in Clear Lake officiating.
Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Highway 122 West, Mason City, with
military graveside honors conducted by members of Veterans of Foreign Wars in
Clear Lake. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service time on
Wednesday at the chapel.

David Gordon Harrington was born on Aug. 7, 1948, in Vermillion, S.D., the
son of Robert and Ethel (Millage) Harrington. David graduated from Clear Lake
High School and also attended N.I.A.C.C. in Mason City. He was united in
marriage to Carol Spaulding on June 13, 1970. David was inducted into the U.S.
Army during Viet Nam and was stationed with Battery A, lst Battalion, lst Air
Defense Artillery in Germany until his honorable discharge. He was also with the
ll33rd Transportation Company in Mason City until his honorable discharge in
January 1984. He was united in marriage to Janelle Gradisher on June 10, 1989,
at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. David spent most of his working career
with 3M Company in Forest City, working for them for 25 years until his
retirement in 2005.

David enjoyed scuba diving, boating and fishing on Clear Lake, and camping.
He loved the outdoors.He was a member of the YMCA in Mason City, and the Masonic
Lodge in Clear Lake.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Janelle Harrington of Clear
Lake; his son, John (Kristi) Harrington of Edmond, Okla.; his mother, Ethel
Harrington of Clear Lake; three grandchildren, Bethany, Braden, and Bailey
Harrington all of Edmond, Okla.; his sister, Pam (Scott) Riley of Minneapolis,
Minn.; a brother, Steve (Phyllis) Harrington of Sioux City, Iowa; several
nieces and nephews and other extended family members and friends.

David was preceded in death by his father, Robert Harrington.
