Vern Larson, 85, 819 9th Ave. S., Clear Lake, died December 21, 2000 at his
home. Funeral services were held Saturday, Dec. 23 at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial
Chapel with Jack Musker officiating. Interment was at the Clear Lake Cemetery.
Memorials may be to Hospice of North Iowa in the name of Vern Larson.

Vern was born March 7, 1915, the son of Andrew and Lena (Kittleson) Larson
in Clear Lake, Iowa. He was baptized at the Norwegian Church, Clear Lake on Feb
10, 1924. Vern married Phyllis Nellie Lucas Aug 5, 1938 in Albert Lea, Minn.
Vern was a
bricklayer, helping build schools, churches, libraryıs, etc.. All over the U.S.
He retired in 1980 for health reasons. In 2002 he would have been a 50 year
member of the Brick Layers Union. He was a member of the Brick Layers Union,
BAC #3, Des Moines, Iowa.

Vern married Marjorie Platts June 10, 1991 in Las Vegas, NV. For the past
six years Vern and Marjorie have served as volunteers at the Manly Care Center,
visiting and dancing for the residents. He enjoyed fishing trout and walleye
all seasons of the year. He also loved dancing.

Vern is survived by his wife Marjorie Larson, Clear Lake; one daughter Mary
Ann Hill, Clear Lake; two grandchildren, Sue Hill and her special friend Mark
Akers, Clear Lake, and Randy Hill, Clear Lake; five great-grandchildren,
Christopher, Amber, Jessica, Jennifer and Steven; three brothers, Alfred Larson
and his wife Jeanyce, Clear Lake, Roy Larson, Clear Lake, and Merle Larson and
his wife Ruth, Clear Lake; six step-children,
Dennis Miller and his wife Helen, Bremerton, Wash., Linda Stewart and her
husband Raymond, Romeoville, Ill., Larry Borchardt and his wife Lee, Praire
City, Iowa, Gladys Fanny and her husband Larry, Hampton, Iowa, Mary Muth and
her husband Dale, Longmont, Colo., and Marlene Williams and her husband Terry,
Lakeville, Minn.; sixteen step-grandchildren; many step great-grandchildren;
and several nieces and nephews.

Vern was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife Phyllis (Lucas)
Larson Aug 24, 1972, second wife Ideal; two sisters, Clara Mix and Florence
Peters; three brothers, Carl, Andrew (Casey) and Harry Larson.
