Andrew Lawrence Miller, 91, of Clear Lake, died Friday, Feb. 13, 2009 at
the Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa.

A Funeral Mass was held Tuesday, Feb. 17, at St Patrick’s Catholic Church,
Clear Lake, with the Rev. John R.Tilp officiating. Burial was at the Calvary
Cemetery in Algona, Iowa. Memorials may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis
Foundation or Newman Catholic Schools.

Andrew was born Aug. 14, 1917, in Clontarf, Minn., the son of Leo Joseph and
Sarah Agnes (Lillie) Miller. He attended country schools. Andrew married Helen
D. (Kollasch) on June 14, 1944 in Whittemore, Iowa, and they farmed in the
Algona area until 1964. He then farmed in Clear Lake until 1972, and went on to
own the Lake Café in Clear Lake. Later he was the manager of the Lakeland Park
Apartments in Clear Lake until his retirement.

In his spare time Andrew was a collector. He especially enjoyed collecting
pencils, and making scrapbooks from newspaper articles that he found of
interest. He also loved playing cards and Bingo.

Andrew was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, and a 3rd degree
Charter member of the Knights of Columbus 7898.

He is survived by his wife, Helen, Clear Lake; children, Bob (Eydie) Miller,
Clear Lake, Jerry (Mary) Miller, Oklahoma City, Okla., Gloria (Roy) DeBower,
Marshalltown, Iowa, Beverly (Larry) Miller, Clear Lake, David (Chris) Miller,
Johnston, Iowa, Jean (Joe) Rieck, Ankeny, Iowa, John (Betty) Miller, Red Wing,
Minn., Ted (Wendy) Miller, Palo Cedro, Calif., and Patty (Bruce) Wagner, Waukee,
Iowa; 23 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; his siblings, Helen Flynn, San
Antonio, Texas, Howard (Beatrice) Miller, Algona, Cecelia Keenan, Austin,
Texas, and Edward (JoElla) Miller, Algona.

Andrew was preceded in death by his parents; two infant daughters, Mary and
Trudy; three grandchildren and his sisters, Ruth Foley and Edna Hutchins.
