Frances M. Templeton, forever “39” in the eyes of those who knew and loved
her, of 315 N. 10th St, Clear Lake, died at her home Sunday, Feb. 1, 2009.
Funeral services were held Friday, Feb. 6, at Zion Lutheran Church, Clear Lake
with the Rev. Dean Hess officiating. Interment was in Clear Lake Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to Opportunity Village.

Frances was born Oct. 7, 1932 the daughter of Jacob and Mable (Whetter)
Beringer in Deadwood, S.D. Fran graduated from Deadwood High School in 1951 and
worked for a credit union in Rapid City, S.D.

Fran married Joe Templeton on Nov. 14, 1954 in Deadwood. They moved to
Mason City, Iowa where she worked for GMAC Credit Union. They moved to Clear
Lake in 1956. In 1961 they moved to Dows, Iowa where they had various business
ventures. They moved back to Clear Lake in 1972 and ran the North Shore
Standard. In 1978 she started working for Opportunity Village. From 1988 to
Dec. 31, 2008 she worked for Cerro Gordo County Case Management as office
manager and payee for over 40 people. She was the recipient of the Association
of Retarded Citizens “Professional of the Year”, Mason City Rotary Club
“Service Above Self Award” and was honored in 2007 as one of Iowa’s Outstanding
Older Workers.” She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Association of
Retarded Citizens and was on the board of the directors of Iowa Guardian Ship.

Fran is survived by her husband, Joseph Templeton, Clear Lake; five
children, Steve (Lisa) Templeton, Nora Springs, Iowa, Terry (April) Templeton,
Clear Lake, Greg (Lisa) Templeton, Scottsdale, Az., Chris Templeton and Susan
Templeton, both of Clear Lake; four grandchildren, Alex, Allison, Jacob and
William Templeton; a brother, Leroy (Beverly) Beringer, Rapid City;
brothers-in-law, Winfred Straub, Central City, S.D, Lloyd (Betty) Templeton,
Mason City and Duane Hahn, Clear Lake.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Marlene Straub.

Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, was in charge of arrangements.
