Shirley J. Neel, 83, of 124 N. 20th St., Clear Lake, Iowa died Thursday Nov. 15,
2012 at the Good Shepherd Health Center, Mason City, Iowa.Funeral services will be 10:30a.m. Tuesday Nov. 20, 2012 at the Clear Lake
United Methodist Church, Clear Lake, Iowa with Rev. Rhoda Preston officiating.
Visitation will be Monday from 5:00p.m.-7:00p.m. at the Ward-Van Slyke Colonial
Chapel, Clear Lake and then one hour before the service at the church. Burial
will be in Clear Lake Cemetery, Clear Lake, Iowa. Family suggests memorials to
Shirley J. Neel Memorial Fund.Shirley was born August 30, 1929 in Titonka, Iowa the daughter of Markus and
Myrtie (Wilson) Bacon. She graduated from Ventura High School in 1947.
Following high school she started working for Clear Lake Bank and Trust. Shirley
met Clyde the love of her life at the Surf Ballroom and they were married on
Feb. 5. 1954 as they found joy in each other for over 43 years. After the
raising of their children she continued to work for Clear Lake Bank and Trust
until she retired in 1991.Shirley enjoyed working with the public, listening to Blue Grass Music, going
out to lunch with the Golden Girls, puzzles and spending time with her friends
and family. After Clyde and Shirley retired they enjoyed spending their winters
in Arizona and Texas.She was a member of the Clear Lake United Methodist Church.
Shirley is survived by her three children Steve Neel, Hinckley, Minnesota, David
(Lori) Neel, Mason City, Iowa and Nancy (Mike) McCoid, Manly, Iowa; six
grandchildren Alaina (Jed) Hollenkamp, Benjamin Neel and his special friend
Jenni, Jared Neel and special friend Priscilla, Danielle (Jeremy) Corcoran,
Jessica McCoid and special friend Landon and Nicole McCoid; six great
grandchildren Owen, Gabriel, Kayla, Brianna, Logan and Liam; and a
brother-in-law Merle Isabrand, Ft. Meyers, Florida.She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Clyde; six brothers and
