Eula A. Trampel, 92, slipped peacefully into the arms of her Savior on Friday,
Feb. 12, 2010 at the Greenhills Health Care Center in Ames, Iowa. A funeral
service was held Tuesday, Feb. 16 at the First Reformed Church in Meservey,
Iowa with the Rev. Rodney Meester officiating. Burial was in the Meservey
Cemetery.

Eula Angeline Trampel, the daughter of Albert and Augusta Veenstra, was born
near Cold Springs, Minn. on Aug. 21, 1917. Her father died during the 1918
influenza epidemic. Her mother subsequently married Henry Busse and the new
family moved to a farm near Goodell, Iowa. Eula graduated with a teaching
degree from Waldorf College in Forest City, Iowa and taught in a one-room
country school before her marriage to Harmen Trampel on April 5, 1942 at the
Immanuel Reformed United Church of Christ in Klemme, Iowa. Harmen was drafted
into the United States Army in 1942 and served during World War II. Eula lived
with her husband at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo., San Antonio, Texas, and Brownsville,
Texas. After Harmen’s honorable discharge the couple moved to a farm southeast
of Swaledale, Iowa and in 1947 moved to their farm east of Meservey. They
farmed together until they retired and moved to Belmond, Iowa in 1991. For the
last three years of her life, Eula lived in Ames, Iowa. Eula was a member of
the First Reformed Church in Meservey for over 50 years and enjoyed
participating in the Reformed Church Women’s Ministry.

Those thankful for sharing her life are her sons, Larry Trampel and his wife,
Bonnie, of Albert Lea, Minn., and Darrell Trampel and his wife, Christine, of
Ames; daughters, Janice Youngblood of Ankeny, Iowa and Linda Spalla of Mason
City; grandchildren, Carol Farris, Roger Trampel, Barbara Larson, Christopher
Trampel, Rebecca Eness, Alexander Youngblood, Jennifer Alexander, Sara Spalla;
seven great-grandchildren; her sisters, Margaret Michael of Dyersville, Iowa and
Mildred Busse of Carol Stream, Ill.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and an infant
granddaughter.

Adams & Soderstrum Funeral Home in Ames is in charge of arrangements.
