John R. Kunz, 45, of Clear Lake, died Sunday, July 25, 1994, at his home.
Following cremation, interment will be held Friday, July 29, at 2 p.m. at
Elmwood Cemetery, Mason City, Iowa, with Pastor Will Hunsacker officiating.
Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, is in charge of services. There
will be no visitation. The family suggests memorials be made to the John R.
Kunz Memorial Fund.John was born Oct. 4, 1948 in Mason City, the son of Dr. Raymond Kunz, Jr.,
and Jean (nee) Bagley Kunz. He graduated from Clear Lake High School in 1967.
He earned a bachelor of science degree in liberal arts at the University of
Iowa and went on to graduate from the U of I College of Pharmacy in 1975.Following his education, he moved back to Clear lake and was employed as a
pharmacist at Casey Drug from 1975-1982. He then joined St. Joseph Mercy
Hospital in Mason City as a staff pharmacist. He was later promoted to senior
pharmacist supervisor at North Iowa Mercy Health Centers east campus. He also
was a relief pharmacist throughout North Iowa.He was a certified instructor for the North Iowa Area Community
College/Regional Health Education Center. He served as an instructor for
paramedics, CPR and other EMS related fields. He also was an Advanced Cardiac
Life Support, Iowa Affiliate, instructor. His other certifications included
Iowa Firefighter I and EMT-I.He was a member of the American Society of Hospital Pharmacists, National
Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians, National Federal Professional
Qualifications Board, Clear Lake Fire Department and Clear Lake Verity
Masonic Lodge.He married Nancy Lee on Dec. 22, 1990, in Clear Lake.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Lee-Kunz, Clear Lake; five children, Stacie
Kunz, Rick Kunz and Ryan Lee Kunz, all of Clear Lake, Tim Kunz, Denver, Colo.,
and Rachel Kunz, San Antonio, Texas; an uncle, John Kunz and his wife, Max,
Overland Park, Kan.; his in-laws, Herb and Vivian Ross, Dows, Iowa; a
brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Mike and Sylvia Armour and family, Belmond,
Iowa; two grandchildren, Alexa and Dillon Anthony, Mason City, Iowa.He was preceded in death by his grandparents; parents; and one infant son.
