Harold Albert Klatt, 76, of Clear Lake, died Wednesday, June 29, 1994, at
North Iowa Mercy Health Care Center, east in Mason City.
Funeral services were held Saturday, July 2, at Zion Lutheran Church in
Clear Lake, with the Rev. Dean Hess officiating. Burial was in the Clear
Lake Cemetery with military graveside honors by the San Juan Marne VFW Post
#733 in Mason City. The Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, was in
charge of arrangements.
Harold Albert Klatt was born Sept. 14, 1917, the son of Julius and Bertha
(Streich) Klatt in New Hampton, Iowa. He attended and received his
education in the New Hampton Schools. After completing his schooling he
helped his family in the family
Bakery Shop in Fredricksburg, Iowa.
He was united in marriage to Elaine Marie Kluss on Sept. 21, 1940 in
Castalia, Iowa. After their marriage he was inducted in the U.S. Navy
serving in the "Seabeas" overseas during World War II in the New Heberdies
Islands in the Pacific.
After his honorable discharge he moved to Cresco, Iowa, where he worked at
the Farm Implement Company until 1954, when he moved to Clear Lake, working
as a sales representative for Geihl Implement from 1952 to 1958 and for
Heimbuch Implement from 1958 until 1969. He also worked as a branch manager
for the Lindsey Brothers in Mason City from 1969 until his retirement in
1986. His wife preceded him in death on Nov. 10, 1987.
Harold was a very artistic person and did several murals of famous people
which won blue ribbons at state and county
