Obituary - Donnie Dean Amundson
1936 ~ 2008

Donnie Dean AMUNDSON, 71, of Golden, CO, formerly of New Prague, died from cardiac arrest Saturday, June 21, 2008, at St. Anthony's Hospital in Denver, CO.

He was born in Coulter, IA on October 26, 1936, a son of Art and Katherine (PETERS) AMUNDSON. He graduated from high school in Esterville, IA in 1955 and went on to the community college in Esterville.

He joined the U.S. Army in March 1959, and while in the service, he was stationed in Germany but visited several European countries during that time. In July 1963, Donnie married Gea Elaine HJELM.

He worked in the banking and finance industries for 40 years. He was active in the church and especially enjoyed singing in the church choir. He was a member of the American Legion.

Donnie loved all animals, but had a special place in his heart for his dogs. He also enjoyed watching birds and other wildlife.

He is survived by his wife; daughter Andrea (Tim KJENSRUD) AMUNDSON and son Paul (Dana) AMUNDSON, all of Indian Hills, CO; brother Arthur (Nancy) AMUNDSON, Northwood, IA; nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial service is planned for August 8, 2008, at Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Swaledale, IA.
