Joel Duitscher, 79, of 1310 Village Rd, Clear Lake, died Friday, April 2, 2004
at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City, Iowa. Memorial service
was Tuesday, April 6, at the Clear Lake Christian Church, Clear Lake with the
Rev. Mark Young officiating. Inurnment was in Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason
City. Military honors were by the Clear Lake V.F.W. The family suggests
memorials of their choice in memory of Joel Duitscher.
Joel was born in Clarion, Iowa the son of Joe and Carrie (Petersen) Duitscher.
He graduated from Clarion High School in 1942. He served in the United States
Army during WWII.
Joel married Barbara McCutcheon on Oct. 4, 1947 in Goldfield, Iowa. He farmed
in the Clarion area for fourteen years. He managed the Grundy Center
Cooperative Elevator before transferring to Des Moines, Iowa, where he was in
grain merchandising. He retired in Clear Lake.
He was an avid sports fan, enjoyed gardening, woodworking and spending time
around the lake and especially being with his family and grandchildren.
He was a member of Clear Lake Christian Church and Clear Lake V.F.W.
Joel is survived by his wife, Barbara Duitscher, Clear Lake; two daughters,
Jody Babinat and her husband, Tom, Grundy Center, Iowa and Patricia Larsen and
her husband, Ralph, Clear Lake; five grandchildren, Shane Babinat, Shawna
Babinat and her fiancée, Scott Kuiper, Keri Babinat, Kelsey Larsen and Bryan
Larsen.
He was preceded in death by his parents; infant brother, Donald, three other
brothers, Delmar, Harold and Ray and an infant granddaughter, Kelly Jo
Babinat.
Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, was in charge of arrangements.
