Robert E. (Bobby) Tarr, 65, of Clear Lake, died Tuesday, May 21, 1996 at his home. Funeral services were held Friday, May 24, at Zion Lutheran Church, Clear Lake, with the Rev. Dean Hess officiating. Interment was in the Clear Lake Cemetery with military honors by the Clear Lake V.F.W. The Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel was in charge . The family suggests memorials to the Robert E. Tarr memorial fund.
Robert was born Oct. 5, 1930 in Clear Lake, the son of Ralph and Ruth (French) Tarr. He attended school in Clear Lake. Robert served in the Air Force during the Korean Conflict. Following the service he moved back to Clear Lake. He worked for Severson-Black Excavating as a heavy equipment operator, later Hollatz Excavating and then up till his death for Heartland Asphalt Co. Robert enjoyed hunting, fishing, his family and especially his grandchildren, Benjamin and Elizabeth. He was a member of Clear Lake V.F.W.
He is survived by his mother Ruth (Tarr) Seidel, Clear Lake; his wife, Pauline Tarr, Clear Lake; one son, Greg Tarr and his wife, LuAnn, Des Moines, Iowa and their two children, Benjamin Robert Tarr and Elizabeth Marie Tarr; six brothers, Donald Tarr, Wautoma, Wis., Allen Tarr and his wife, Betty, Phoenix City, Ala., William Tarr and his wife, Pat, Clear Lake, Richard Tarr and his wife, Jane, Champaign, Ill., and Keith Tarr and his wife, Sharon, Clear Lake; and step children.
He was preceded in death by his father in 1957; two sisters, Cindy Lou Spooner and Mary Pat Formanek; step-dad, Clarence Seidel; sister-in-laws, Norma Jean Tarr and Pam Tarr.
Organist Mary Jane Reynolds accompanied soloist Paul Langholz. Honorary pallbearers were Wayne Spilman, LaVern Miller, Lloyd Wreghitt, Dick Eibey, LeRoy French, Oscar Davis. Pallbearers were Marvin Tarr, Keith Tarr, Mike Tarr, Donald Tarr, Bill Tarr and Dick Tarr.
